The “Do you read art?!” series is a collection of interviews produced by Valentina Galossi in Berlin in 2021. In the final episode of the second series, Galossi introduces us to Frank Drewes, a German architect and art collector based in Berlin, Bielefeld, and San Francisco.
Frank’s passion for collecting art stems from his extensive knowledge of art and its various forms. He has been collecting minimalism and conceptual art for over 30 years, including works by Imi Knoebel, Frank Taffelt, and Daniel Largon. Frank’s emotional connection with each artwork in his collection is evident as “an artwork must speak to him.” He shares the personal and fascinating stories behind each artwork, inspiring fellow art lovers. In this episode, Frank talks about his love for art books and recommends the art catalog by Isabel Albrecht, photographic book by Kacper Kowalski, and designed art book “Objects” by De Vera. He also showcases installations by Chilean artist Ismael Randall Weeks, special edition book by Sam Falls, and mailed painting by Karin Sander.
